Hurricane Harvey made landfall in Texas on August 25, 2017, causing catastrophic flooding and wind damage across the state. The storm displaced thousands of residents, destroyed homes, and caused billions of dollars in damages. In response, the Texas General Land Office (GLO) launched the Hurricane Harvey Homeowner Reimbursement Program to provide financial relief to homeowners who used personal funds to repair their homes after the disaster.

The program aimed to reimburse eligible homeowners for out-of-pocket expenses incurred in repairing their homes. This initiative was a critical part of the state’s recovery efforts, helping residents recover financially and rebuild their homes safely and in compliance with updated building codes and floodplain management standards.

H2Bravo supported the GLO by providing program management, financial oversight, and compliance services for the Homeowner Reimbursement Program. The team developed policies and procedures for applicant intake and eligibility reviews, managed the application process, and ensured compliance with HUD CDBG-DR requirements.

H2Bravo staff also coordinated outreach efforts to inform homeowners of the program’s availability and assisted applicants in navigating the documentation requirements. The team performed quality control reviews to ensure that reimbursement requests were accurate, complete, and in compliance with federal guidelines.

The Hurricane Harvey Homeowner Reimbursement Program successfully reimbursed thousands of Texas homeowners, providing critical financial assistance to families impacted by the disaster. H2Bravo’s leadership in program management and compliance ensured that the program met its goals efficiently and within federal guidelines.
